When T* joined Clarity's pathways program, his secondary school education had been regularly interrupted by ill health and hospital stays.

He wasn't sure what he wanted to do next, but he knew one thing was holding him back - literacy.

Through Clarity's Learning to Read program, T received personalised, one-to-one support from facilitators with education experience, learning at a pace that worked for him.

It wasn't long before his family were joking that they couldn't even look at their phones without T reading over their shoulders. They laughed that they'd have to start writing in code if they wanted to keep anything a secret.

Fast forward to today, and T has secured casual labouring work. He's now confidently completing forms, reading documents and navigating everyday life with greater independence.

At Clarity, we know that everyone's pathway looks different. Sometimes it's building work skills. Sometimes it's exploring career options. And sometimes it's developing the confidence to overcome a barrier that's been standing in the way for years.

That's what Clarity's pathways programs are all about - personalised support that helps people move towards the future they choose.

Looking for something different to do this weekend?

Join us at the historic Yallourn Production Centre for our monthly Sunday Pop Up, where community, history and local passions come together.

This month's line-up includes:
Classic and unique vehicles
Bricks & Giggles LEGO displays
Delicious food from That Charcoal Meat Guy
Mugshot Cakes: delicious single-serve microwave cakes
Barista made coffee from Clarity Services and Support
Local history displays and a glimpse into the exciting vision for the building

Take a look at this remarkable piece of Gippsland history, browse the displays, learn about the future vision for the site, and enjoy a relaxed morning with the local community.

Every Tuesday, we're throwing open the doors of the historic Yallourn Production Centre.

Drop in for a cuppa, learn about the history of one of Gippsland's most fascinating buildings, and explore the exciting vision for its future through historical images, information and AI generated concept images.

Every coffee purchased helps fund Clarity's community programs, supporting people with disability to build pathways to education, volunteering and employment.

But that's only part of the story.

The long term vision for the Yallourn Production Centre is to restore it as the Sir John Monash Museum - a place that celebrates our region's history while honouring the values championed by Sir John Monash and shared by Clarity: inclusion, education, innovation and stronger communities.

Not sure what kind of work or training might suit?

Clarity's pathways program gives people with a disability aged 16+ the opportunity to try practical skills before deciding what they want to pursue.

Participants can explore areas such as:

• Using a point-of-sale system
• Customer service and retail
• Food preparation and coffee making
• Basic maintenance and tool use
• Gardening and yard work
• Job readiness and workplace routines
• Starting a small business or microenterprise

The program is delivered one-to-one, so each person can learn at their own pace, build confidence and discover which skills and environments suit them.

You don’t need to arrive with a career plan. You just need somewhere safe and supportive to start.

When J joined our Employment Pathways Program, his mum simply wanted him to give something a go.

Like many young people, he was comfortable staying in his room gaming and had little interest in talking about work or the future. Some days it felt like pulling teeth just to get him to engage.

Over the following weeks, J built employability skills and experienced hospitality through one of our workplace tasters. We weren't expecting miracles. Sometimes, just trying something new for the first time is a huge achievement.

The program finished, and life moved on.

About a year later, J's facilitator heard that he'd started an apprenticeship at a local café.

What a proud moment.

It was a reminder that we're often just one part of a much bigger journey. Parents, employers, educators, support workers and mentors all play a role. Sometimes our part is simply helping someone take that very first step.

💙 To J, congratulations. To his mum, and to everyone walking alongside a young person who's not quite ready yet... keep believing. Sometimes the first step doesn't look like much until you look back and realise where it led.

Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to receive a grant from AGL to help towards food insecurity in our region. Food insecurity is experienced by many people in our community, not just those experiencing homelessness, but families, people with a disability and mental ill-health, carers and those that are employed.

We've made a great start in this project by having businesses and individuals donate their time and money for Community Cook Ups which enable healthy meals to be made and distributed amonst the community.

We are also well underway in the second part of this project which is to run cooking classes on affordable, energy efficiant and healthy eating options.

If you'd like to contribute or participate in either of these initiatives, please reach out to our team for more information.

Come and say hello at the Coffee and Cars event in Yallourn.

Grab a coffee and support local while you're there. Every coffee sold helps fund our community programs.

While you're visiting, you can also:
