APIP is seeking Yard Hands to join the team working on a newly acquired Defence contract in Townsville. Our Client is one of Australia’s leading waste management companies, providing sustainable solutions for Defence. With a national network of facilities, their services cover general waste, recycling and industrial cleaning, helping Defence meet their environmental goals efficiently and responsibly.

As a Yard hand you will be typically working Monday to Friday for project based work, assembling brand new bins of various sizes ready for distribution to Defence sites. Following this project, there is a possibility for continued work in the delivery and maintenance of assembled bins.

In this role, you will be working outdoors, using very basic hand tools and light to medium manual labour. We are also looking for Forklift drivers to assist in this work and would be entitled to a higher pay rate.

Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Assemble plastic and steel bin containers
✔️ Perform general labouring and site logistics tasks
✔️ Operate forklifts to load/unload shipping containers and vehicles and move containers around the yard (if qualified)
✔️ Handle materials and assist with deliveries

What We’re Looking For:
✅ White Card (Mandatory)
✅ Current Forklift Licence with experience (Advantageous)
✅ Ability to perform manual labour and use power tools
✅ Reliable transport and a strong work ethic

PPE Requirements (Must Have):
👢 Steel cap boots
👕 Long-sleeve high-vis shirt
👖 Long work pants

Seeking skilled professionals for the following FIFO roles at the Bauxite Hills Mine, located in Far North Queensland, 95 km north of Weipa:
🔧 Boilermakers
🔩 Mechanical Fitter Welders
Position Overview:

- Location: Skardon River, QLD
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm), on a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster
- Duration: Starting from mid-January, anticipated until mid-March
- Tasks: Maintenance and remediation work for a pontoon, including inspections, repairs, and re-installation of flooring.
- Competitive pay rates ($60-$70 p.h. + flat rate), with flights out of Cairns, accommodation, meals, and transport provided!

Required Qualifications:

- Relevant trade qualifications in Boiler making, Fitter Welder
- White card (not essential)
- Pre-employment mining medical (advantageous)
- Confined space and gas testing experience (advantageous)
- Prior shutdown or heavy industry maintenance experience
- Commitment to safety and meeting project deadlines

Sam was one of APIP’s first candidates! 🎉 He worked on the Healing Country Initiative 2021, partnering with NQ Dry Tropics and Three Big Rivers to support a Reef Assist-funded project in Townsville. This important initiative created employment and training opportunities for Indigenous trainees while protecting the Great Barrier Reef through gully remediation, revegetation, and sediment runoff reduction. 🌱🌊. He then went on to community engagement and workforce development roles🤩.
