The Fair Work Commission has confirmed a 4.75% increase to the National Minimum Wage and Modern Award minimum rates from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026.

While many employers are focused on the size of the increase, one of the biggest mistakes we see each year is assuming that paying above Award means nothing needs to be reviewed.

Most notably, the new classification structure and first stage of pay changes will now commence on the 1st of October 2026, giving businesses more time to prepare.
