Tomago Aluminium Company Pty Ltd

Tomago Aluminium Company Pty Ltd Tomago Aluminium is Australasia’s largest aluminium smelter and has been operating 24 hours a day In 1991 further expansion started.

Construction on Tomago Aluminium began in 1981 and continued until first production in 1983. At the time of first production, it was the world’s first large-scale AP18 plant, with two potlines and an annual production capacity of about 240,000 tonnes. A third potline and additional facilities were added to the site and were operational by early 1993. The expansion increased annual output by 140,00

0 tonnes and created 150 new positions at the smelter. The flow-on employment impact created an additional 750 jobs in the region. Expansion continued with the extension of Potlines 1 and 2 which was completed in December 1998. In 2001 Tomago Aluminium received Development Approval for the AP22 project, a $200million conversion to AP22 technology. The project involved the re-engineering of the pots to run at greater capacity, taking the smelter’s output to 530,000 tonnes annually. In 2009, development approval was obtained to further increase metal production to 580,000 tonnes per year, and in 2015 approval to increase production to 590,000 tonnes was granted by the Department of Planning.

We were proud to recognise ANZAC Day onsite this year, bringing our workforce together for both a dawn and morning service.

Led by East Maitland RSL Sub-Branch, the services provided an opportunity to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who have served our country.

Thank you to the East Maitland RSL Sub-Branch and to everyone who attended, contributed and supported our poppy sales, with all proceeds going to Maitland RSL to support veterans and their families.

Lest we forget.

Celebrating International Women’s Day!

Today we celebrated International Women’s Day onsite at Tomago Aluminium, to recognise the contribution of women across our business.

From a site wide breakfast at the front gates, complete with Sprockets coffee, muffins and hot croissants, to our IWD Pledge Wall filled with messages of support and commitment, the morning was a great reminder of the role we all play in fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace.

As a small thank you, the women in our workforce received gift bags to recognise what they give to our business each day and what we gain through their expertise, leadership and perspective.

We were also proud to sponsor and attend the Port Stephens International Women’s Day event at Murrook Cultural Centre.

Happy International Women’s Day to the women of Tomago and to all the women who shape our workplaces, homes and communities.

Celebrating International Women’s Day at Tomago Aluminium.

To recognise International Women’s Day, we are proud to share a special film celebrating some of the incredible women that work at Tomago Aluminium.

In the video, our team members reflect on their roles, what they give to TAC each day and what we gain through their skills, experience and perspective. Their stories highlight the strength, capability and leadership that help drive our business forward.

We invite you to take a few minutes to watch the film and join us in recognising the contribution and impact of women across our workforce and in our lives.
