Today we're raising a glass to the human encyclopaedia of current affairs and celebrity gossip, master of the one-liner, dog-minder by night, restaurant-reviewer by lunch, and the reason our temp candidates always land on their feet.

Two years into Rupert Turner's time on our Technology team, his candidates have a standing instruction for the rest of Sydney's tech scene: "If Rupert calls, answer."

The scoreboard from his last 12 months alone tells you why:

Most software engineers have a healthy scepticism of recruiters. Fair enough — plenty of us have earned it.
