Learn a skilled trade while working, earning a wage and completing formal training. Apprenticeships are common in areas like construction, automotive, hairdressing and engineering.

💼 Traineeship
Work towards a nationally recognised qualification while gaining practical, paid experience. Traineeships are available across industries such as business, early childhood education, hospitality and community services.

👟 Casual or Part-Time Jobs
A great way to earn money, gain workplace experience and build transferable skills. Unlike an apprenticeship or traineeship, you’re generally not working towards a formal qualification as part of the job.

Apprentices – here’s an opportunity worth checking out!

MDT DESIGN has launched the Australian Apprentice Tool Grant, offering one Australian apprentice up to $3,000 towards tools and equipment for their trade.

The grant is open to apprentices in recognised trades across Australia – from electricians, carpenters, plumbers and mechanics to chefs, hairdressers, horticulturists, jewellers and more.

Applying is simple: share your best apprenticeship story in 100 words or less, along with a short description of the tools or equipment you would purchase with the grant. Applications close 30 November 2027.
