In celebration of R U OK? Day, Core Talent decided to exchange our desks for some old school sporting activity. Starting off with an afternoon soccer game against a local CBD business,with an impressive 2-1 win! Next, we headed to Hyde Park for a game of UK Rounders with our full recruitment team.

Why do we at Core think these activities are important? We want to Ask, Listen, Encourage Action and Check In, building a community of support and comfort. Without bonding activities like sport, we cannot expect our team to consistently grow their friendships. It is up to us to be encouraging a fun, exciting work environment, so that Core’s culture can continually evolve.

Here at Core Talent, we understand the importance of the mental wellbeing of our employees and contractors. Our core sector Construction has been identified as an industry with a higher su***de rate than the Australian average (Source: Yellow). Everyday, a minimum of 6 Australians commit su***de and 30 attempt to - which is why we have made it our mission to support campaigns such as R U OK? and the Black Dog Institute to get this number to 0.

As we operate in stereotypically male dominated industries, we are committed to taking care of our workers’ mental health and wellbeing. The Black Dog Institute studies showed that in 2017 men made up 75% of su***des across the country.

We have a duty of care to encourage resilience and provide safety in the workplace, both physically and mentally.
