Position: Apprentice Welder
Location: Dandenong,Vic

If you want to work as a welding apprentice, you will need to possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints and enjoy working with welding machinery and metals. Physical strength is a prerequisite for this position as is good hand-eye coordination and vision.

Roles and Responsibilities:
•Work alongside a certified welder to learn various styles of welding.
•Assist welders in cleaning up work sites and setting up welding equipment.
•Read and interpret blueprints to understand work specifications.
•Follow all safety protocols and guidelines for safe handling of heating equipment and metals.
•Ensure quality work through extensive knowledge of metallurgy, welding techniques, and engineering requirements.

Other requirement:
•Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
•Ability to take and understand instruction.
•Ability to read and understand blueprints/technical drawings.
•Eagerness and willingness to learn and receive instruction/direction from qualified Welder.
•Will be assisting Welders as needed.
•Attention to detail.

Experience: No experience required. Willing to train the right candidate.

Education: Certificate III in Metal Fabrication or similar

Machine Operator / Process Worker
To perform other secondary processes (sanding / routing) while machines are running as practical using personal incentive or at the Production Manager’s direction.
Efficient and high-quality performance across all work areas as part of cross-functional team.
Key Performance Indicators
Meeting daily targets set out by production schedules and the Supervisor & Production Manager.
Maintaining a cleanly/organised work area.
Excellent quality outcomes without compromising machine efficiencies, evidenced by a low level of work centre, non-conformance, and completion of all QA documentation in the correct manner.
Nil injuries sustained to self or others.
Teamwork - assisting and cooperating with others.
Regular and on time attendance and a flexibility towards working hours.
Skills / Qualifications
Ability to work with minimal supervision in an organised manner and to keep to production plan and schedule.
To operate machines/tools that employee has been trained on in an efficient and effective manner.
Must have demonstrated basic math skills - Year 10 level.
Experience
Some experienced listed below will come from on-the-job training on applicable machines/tools as per requirements:
Capable and able to use measuring devices such as tape measure, rulers, micrometers and vernier callipers.
Some experience in the operation, maintenance of machines and/or tools.
Above average numeracy and literacy skills.
Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner.
Knowledgeable of general manufacturing processes with particular focus on machine operation.
Computer literate and able to navigate through Windows operating system.
Setting up machine parameters, able to check, adjust programs and tool dimensions.
Able to read and understand engineering drawings and bill of materials.
Knowledge of tool selection dependent on material being processed
