I’m honoured to be recognised #55 in the Top 100 Recruitment Leaders across Australia & NZ, and Ranked 5th within the Silver League, as part of the 2026 cohort.

For context, the Top 100 is divided into performance tiers and being ranked Top 5 within my league is something I’m genuinely proud of.

‼️ Two candidates can walk into the same interview and experience completely different realities.

That’s the glass wall.

Same role. Same brief. Same hiring manager.
Same market conditions.

Yet one candidate leaves feeling alignment.
The other feels rejection before a decision is even made.

On paper, nothing changes.
But perspective changes everything.

Here’s what I see constantly in recruitment:

Candidate A enters the interview as a conversation.

They’re curious. Present. Responsive.
They speak to impact, not ego.
They contextualise rather than oversell.

The hiring manager feels it immediately.
Trust forms. The conversation flows.
Time stretches , in the right way.

Candidate B has the same CV strength and track record.

But they enter from judgement.
They defend. Over-explain. Rely on scripts.
They answer the question they prepared, not the one being asked.

Same room. Same people.
Different reality.

The difference isn’t confidence or capability.
It’s orientation.

One is tuned to contribution.
The other to self-protection.

And here’s the part rarely said out loud in hiring:

Decisions are often made before the final question not because of bias, but because one person is simply easier to imagine working alongside.

That’s the glass wall at work.

Clients often say, “They were all strong one just felt right.”

That feeling isn’t magic.
It’s resonance.

You don’t push through the glass wall by trying harder.

You move through it by changing how you relate to the moment.

The strongest candidates aren’t chasing roles.
They step into conversations assuming mutual fit.

And the best recruiters don’t just assess skills.
They help people change sides of the glass before the interview even begins.

So if a process keeps feeling opaque, frustrating, or stacked against you, it’s worth asking:

Are you actually blocked or standing inches away from a wall that isn’t solid at all?

Somewhere between end-of-year emails, AI prompts and Christmas sugar… here we are🎄

Before we all properly switch off, I want to say a huge thank you.

Yes, ChatGPT and AI have become part of everyday work this year.

But what stood out most in 2025 wasn’t the tech, it was the quality of the conversations, the relationships, and the humans behind the screens.

So over the break:

Recruitment is so much more than posting jobs it’s about:

- Building trust quickly

I’m back after a few weeks abroad, feeling refreshed and deeply grateful.

From the heartbreak of war in Ukraine, to precious moments with my Nan, to the vibrant contrasts of Turkey, and the breathtaking beauty of cruising through Europe, this journey was a powerful reminder of just how fortunate we are.

As the founder of xtend recruitment I spend my days helping people navigate career moves, growth, and change.

This time away gave me space to reflect on life, work, and the incredible privilege of safety, choice, and freedom.

Here are a few reflections I’m bringing home:

🌍 Freedom and stability are blessings we should never take for granted.

🌅 Beauty often coexists with struggle.

🙏 Sometimes, all we need is to pause and appreciate how far we’ve come.

The sunsets were unforgettable… but the perspective gained was the true gift.

In a garden in Ukraine, I saw it, standing strong, rooted deep, still growing.

That moment reminded me: real growth doesn’t rush.

It grounds itself. It weathers storms. And it returns, season after season.

That moment right before takeoff, whether you’re paragliding or hiring your next tech sales leader can feel the same:

“What if it doesn’t work?”

But also…

“What if it’s exactly what we need?”

I recently went paragliding ( yes, holiday post )

I stood on the edge of a mountain, nerves buzzing, and then I jumped.
