Looking to join a friendly, supportive team in Sydney?

A well-established, independently owned small animal practice in southern Sydney is seeking a veterinarian to join their five-vet team.

This growing clinic has a collegial atmosphere where learning and knowledge sharing are encouraged. You’ll be supported by a skilled and fun team, with the opportunity to work up interesting medical and surgical cases and handle most procedures in-house.

For vets interested in orthopaedics, there’s also the chance to learn directly from the practice owner, who performs orthopaedic procedures including TTAs in-house and is PennHIP registered.

The clinic is well-equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, dental x-ray, IM3 dental machine, full in-house lab, Kyon TTA and modern anaesthetic monitoring. There are no after-hours duties, and weekend work is shared between vets.

Located next to a train station, the clinic is close to shops, restaurants and parks, with the beach just 20 minutes away, offering a great balance of city convenience and coastal lifestyle.

The pace of a busy clinic doesn’t always leave much room to pause.

But every now and then, a patient leans in like this and the world slows down for a moment.

It’s a small reminder to take a breath before moving on to the next case.

Looking for a supportive clinic where the focus is on great veterinary care, not KPIs?

A high-quality ASAVA-accredited small animal practice in Melbourne’s north-east is looking for an experienced veterinarian to join their friendly, long-standing team.

This well-established clinic has a loyal client base and a fantastic workplace culture, with many staff members having been there for more than 10 years. You’ll be working alongside experienced vets and Cert IV-qualified nurses in a well-equipped practice with in-house diagnostics including digital radiography, dental X-ray, ultrasound and Tonopen.

The role is ideally 2 to 3 days per week, although full-time hours may be considered for the right vet. There are no after-hours requirements, and the clinic encourages learning and special interests, with current vets enjoying areas such as surgery, behaviour, ophthalmology and feline medicine.

Located about 40 minutes from the Melbourne CBD, the area offers leafy suburban living with great cafes, restaurants and a welcoming community feel. It’s a popular part of Melbourne for vets wanting a long-term role with excellent work-life balance.

If this sounds like a role you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you.

🐾 World Wildlife Day 🌏

Today we’re celebrating the vets and vet nurses who dedicate their careers to the care of wildlife.

From injured seabirds and orphaned joeys to reptiles, raptors and everything in between, wildlife medicine calls for adaptability, resilience and a genuine commitment to conservation. It’s a path that can be incredibly rewarding, but it’s rarely straightforward.

For those considering a move into wildlife work, a few things to keep in mind:

• Build a strong foundation in general practice first. Surgical skills, triage and diagnostic reasoning are invaluable.
• Seek out mentoring and hands-on CPD courses. Wildlife cases can be complex, and having experienced colleagues to guide you makes a significant difference.
• Be prepared for variety. No two days are the same, and resources can differ from traditional small animal practice.
• Stay curious. Ongoing learning is essential in this evolving field.

At the moment, Vetlink has several opportunities for vets interested in wildlife work, including a dedicated wildlife position and small animal and mixed practice roles with significant wildlife caseloads.

If working with wildlife is part of your career plan, now could be an ideal time to explore what’s available. Email [email protected] to arrange a confidential chat about your options.

🐾 JOB OF THE WEEK – Graduate Mixed Practice
📍 South Australia | Job No: 222,270LH2

If you’re a new or recent grad wanting excellent support and an interesting caseload, this one is worth a look.

An established rural mixed practice in South Australia is seeking a full-time vet to join their close-knit team.

The role is around 80% small animal, with the remaining 20% including wildlife, exotics and some large animal work. Think koalas, kangaroos, penguins, wombats and dingoes, plus exotic species including marmosets and servals. Opportunities like this don't come along often!

You’ll work alongside three experienced vets who genuinely prioritise mentoring. Consults run for 20 to 40 minutes, and you’ll have experienced nurses supporting you throughout the day. The clinic is purpose-built and well equipped with digital x-ray, ultrasound, an endoscopy suite, in-house lab and a full surgical suite.

Hours are typically 8.30am to 5.30pm with a proper lunch break and no weekend clinic. After hours are on a shared rota.

Outside of work, the region offers beaches, food and wine, sport and plenty of space to breathe. It is a great opportunity to build your skills while enjoying a balanced lifestyle.
