Will I understand the slang or the accents?

What do I say to a client if I don’t understand what they are saying?

Feeling overwhelmed? And you haven't even left your home country yet!

Oh dear… let me help you!

First things first, don’t let your fear take over. Don’t let your fear take away the decisions of your future! Take a breath.

Secondly, say to yourself: IT WILL HAPPEN!

Now, how shall we work on it? By getting ready with some conversational examples that you can use.

“Excuse me, could you repeat that please?... Oh, you had surgery on your knee, is it right?... Do you want me to avoid the area?... I will double check the pressure with you so please let me know if you are uncomfortable”

If you don’t understand (and that will happen) just breathe, calm down and simplify the conversation as much as possible.

"Shall I massage it or to avoid the area completely?” DONE.

English language is really basic, don’t overcomplicate it.

“Hi, how are you?”
ME: “ I'm 21 yo why?”

This was my level of English when I moved to London for the first time and believe me when I say I was not understanding the most basic words!! BUT I did not let this stop me.

Everyone starts somewhere and we all start from the bottom and we make our way up!

So I went to school, studied English and made sure I was socializing only with students from other countries, who were speaking other languages. Other Italians in the classes were making fun of me as I did not want to go out with them which made me appear fussy or strict.

But I didn't care. I did not want to waste time. I had a goal, and that was learning English. Soon after, I found an English boyfriend, and I soon got a job.

“ lucky you” they said….. “Stubborn me” I’d answer.

Keep you focused on your goal and nobody will ever stop you.

This English Course Sucks!...

I know English as a second language in the workplace can feel overwhelming.

Not knowing the right technical words and having a poor vocabulary in the industry can make us feel even less comfortable.

This is why in my course we have a full module dedicated to this. Is it an english course?

NO I do not teach English!!

What I give you is the vocabulary in the beauty industry and examples of conversation to help you be more comfortable in the new workplace.

I offer tips and useful examples that are not given in an standard English course, because our course is designed especially for the beauty and wellness industry. With this info you will feel more comfortable to jump into your new work experience in Australia!!

Let’s face it...

After you pass the age that allows an employer to obtain tax benefits, you are no longer employable.

You don’t have to believe the people that say “ this is just what you have to do” or “ it has always been done this way”

Don't listen to those people that make you feel bad for wanting to be different, for wanting to follow a different path

Federica (Chicca) had a dream of working in the beauty and spa industry in Australia, but her limited English skills held her back. However, she didn't give up.
