β€˜From 1 July 2022 to 28 February 2023, we’ll accept a record which represents the total number of hours worked from home (for example a 4 week diary). From 1 March 2023 onwards, taxpayers will need to record the total number of hours they work from home.’

The ATO has refreshed the way that taxpayers claim deductions for costs incurred when working from home to better reflect contemporary working from home arrangements.

πŸ“‘ Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022.

The new provisions in the Fair Work Act will apply to sexual harassment in connection with work that occurs on or after the commencement of the new provisions which will commence 6 March 2023.

From this date persons or companies will be vicariously liable for the acts of their employees and/or agents unless they can prove that they took all reasonable steps to prevent the harassment. The protection against sexual harassment in the workplace will apply to employees, contractors, volunteers, work experience students, future workers and anyone conducting a business. There are also broader powers for the Fair Work Commission to deal with sexual harassment disputes.

Businesses should have already taken steps to protect employees from sexual harassment but now is the time to review training, policies and procedures to prevent or address sexual harassment, before the new laws come into effect.
