Check out what's happening in our reception area at the moment. 🐠

Aquaponics is a sustainable farming or gardening method in which you can grow fish and plants in just one system. Plants and fish grow together symbiotically, with the help of beneficial bacteria. Fish waste is converted into nitrates, which the plants use as fertiliser. The plants then filter and clean the water for the fish.

The principles of the Irrigation Enhancement Plan are in line with the cultural principles of the Ngarrindjeri people. As it looks to use natural systems working together to provide improved environmental outcomes.

PLANT SPOTLIGHT ⭐

Scientific name: Clematis Microphylla
Common Name: Old Mans Beard
Ngarrindjeri name: Yalkari

Uses: The roots were dug up, cooked, and pounded into a dough then eaten. The green leaves were bruised and used to rub over sores on the skin and can be used in a bath to relief pain. The leaves can also be eaten fresh and have a chilli taste and can be boiled then drank to help fight colds. Leaves have been used to make a chilli chocolate. Grow from seed.

Australian plants and wildflowers have been a source of food and medicine for Aboriginal people for tends of thousands of years.

Ngopamuldi is a key distributor of Wildflowers and Native Plants. At our purpose-built nursery in Murray Bridge, staff collect, store and propagate native seeds or cuttings from a variety of plants to produce tube stock seedlings and larger mature plants.
