The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Heatwave Warning for Wednesday 11 January to Saturday 14 January 2023 for Central weather district.
The forecast heatwave conditions may cause health impacts in the community.
Heatwaves can affect anyone. Older people, people with pre-existing medical conditions, pregnant women, young children, and babies are most at risk.
Make sure you know these 5 simple tips for surviving the heat:
๐๐ฅ๐๐ก๐ ๐ช๐๐ง๐๐ฅ: Even if you don't feel thirsty, drink water. Take a bottle with you always.
๐๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฆ ๐๐๐๐: Never leave kids, older people or pets in cars. The temperature inside a parked car can double within minutes.
๐๐๐๐ฃ ๐๐ข๐ข๐: Seek out air-conditioned buildings, draw your blinds, use a fan, take cool showers and dress in light and loose clothing made from natural fabrics.
๐ฃ๐๐๐ก ๐๐๐๐๐: Schedule activities during the coolest part of the day and avoid exercising in the heat. If you must go out, wear a hat and sunscreen and take water.
๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ก ๐ข๐ก ๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ฅ๐ฆ: Look after those most at risk in the heat โ your neighbour living alone, older people, the young, people with a medical condition, and don't forget your pets.
