We welcome positive contributions and constructive conversations on the MIGAS page as our community continues to grow. Please consider fellow page followers when posting information to ensure our members continue to enjoy relevant and interesting content. To ensure this page is safe, inclusive and respectful we request that all users abide by the content rules outlined below.

1. Spamming or trolling will be removed and may cause the users to be blocked from the page without notice.

2. The posting of external links or promotions does not constitute endorsement by MIGAS or its affiliated organisations. Information viewed as a conflict of interest may be removed from the page without notice.

Another big nomination for a completed MIGAS apprentice. 🏆

Craig has been named a finalist for Engineering and Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year at the TAFE Queensland SkillsTech CSQ Apprentice Awards.

The nomination is hard earned. After taking out the 2025 MIGAS Apprentice of the Year, Craig’s dedication to his trade, safety mindset, and technical ability have made him a clear standout in the industry.

Hosted by Wood Australia throughout his training, he consistently delivered an elite standard of work on site.

Outstanding achievement for a recently qualified MIGAS apprentice. 🏆

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician, Ryan, has been named a finalist for Instrumentation Apprentice of the Year at the 2026 TAFE Queensland SkillsTech CSQ Apprentice Awards.

Finalists in this category are judged on training performance, study achievements, and site leadership.

Ryan’s recognition reflects the top-tier work he delivered while hosted at Wood Australia during his dual trade apprenticeship and continues to deliver now as a qualified technician on their team.

Ryan has consistently proven himself as an exceptional technician, and we're backing him all the way to take out his category.

How much do 1st year apprentices in Australia really make? 💵

There is a big misconception that apprentice pay is one-size-fits-all, but minimum rates in Australia vary based on key conditions including trade type, age, education, and the applicable Award.

We have summarised the minimum weekly Award rates for 2026–27 across core trade industries. These are full-time minimum Award wages based on the relevant Modern Awards. Some rates include particular industry or tool allowances.

Aquila Mine is one of Australia’s most technologically advanced underground mines, located in Central Queensland.

Available roles include full-time and school-based Electrical and Mechanical Engineering apprenticeships.

The beginning of a new career. 👷‍♀️

Meet Andi, who joined the Seymour Whyte team this month as a Business Trainee through MIGAS.

Making the move up from NSW, Andi has stepped into her new role on the Coomera Connector Project. She was weighing up career options, but decided to pivot and build on her administrative skills in civil infrastructure.

Andi's day-to-day will eventually cover everything from handling data entry, emails, and supplier quotes to ordering PPE, matching invoices to dockets, compiling timesheets, and helping out with event coordination.

Exciting times ahead! We look forward to seeing where this traineeship leads. 💪 👩‍💻

If your organisation employs 200 or more staff, direct government incentive payments will soon be off the table for most standard apprenticeship programs.

We’ve partnered with Foodcare in Dandenong South to find their next full-time Warehousing Trainee.

Foodcare supplies over 1,600 food processing sites across Australia with packaging, PPE, and hygiene products.

This two-year traineeship gives you hands-on experience across valued supply chain operations while you complete a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations.

We are after a reliable, safety-focused candidate with a valid driver’s licence, reliable transport, and the physical ability required for warehouse work.

Forklift experience is a bonus but not required because full training is provided on the job.
