Sudd Foundation

Sudd Foundation Official page of Sudd Foundation, an initiative which aims to maximise opportunities for the African community in Melbourne.

Sudd Foundation has been specifically developed as a result of an initiative involving the African Community, the Victorian Multicultural Commission, education providers, employers and community broadcaster Channel 31. It aims to bring entire communities together and to assist members to maximise their abilities. Sudd Foundation provides opportunities for people of South Sudanese origin living in

Melbourne by giving guidance and advice to those seeking meaningful employment. Sudd Foundation offers counselling services in vocational education and training, resulting in employment outcomes. Primary beneficiaries of the program will be Sudanese youth who will have access to a system designed by them for them. We have many, many success stories in our assimilation into the general community, but also have many roadblocks that we need to overcome to make success a normal and expected outcome. Sudd Foundation understands this and is designed to work with our specific needs and situations in mind. We have created deep and meaningful relationships with employers, sporting bodies, educators and government bodies and we are now ready to accept your enquiries, for advice on best outcomes, to create actual employment pathways in a way that has not been available before. We have set up extensive Social Media platforms to enable you to be in constant communication with Sudd Foundation. You are invited to share your stories with us and to be involved in making the initiative a resounding success. We have endeavoured to make Sudd Foundation services available to all no matter what age or gender and to offer services and outcomes that are varied and tailored to your specific needs. We will operate out of our centre located in Braybrook with facilities designed to achieve all of the aforementioned goals. The centre will be serviced and maintained initially with existing personnel but we anticipate it to grow rapidly and will employ people from our community to do so. The Sudd Foundation project has the support of the Victorian Multicultural Commission who have assured us of structured advice and guidance as to areas that the State Government can be of assistance. We have secured the practical support of broadcaster C31 who have made available their studio facilities to train members of our community in TV and digital production techniques. Our aim is to fully utilise the skills, drive and expertise of our community, to bring the community together, young and old, to maximise our chances in creating exiting futures for our people. I hope you give it your unqualified support. Sincerely,

Ambrose Mareng (Chairperson, South Sudanese Community in Australia)
