Is your organisation speaking to the public through the right channels?

Today, it's about real-time updates, transparency, and meeting people where they already are: .

With 70% of respondents favouring , it’s clear that communication strategies must continue to evolve. In an age of instant updates and short attention spans, communities expect timely, engaging, and accessible information right where they already are.

While traditional channels like newsletters and noticeboards still play a role, social media has become the go-to for real-time updates, interaction, and broader reach.

At , we partner with agencies to recruit Communications Advisors, Community Engagement Officers, and Digital Content Specialists who understand the importance of these evolving platforms and know how to connect with the public effectively.

📱 Social media platforms – 33%
🏛 Community meetings – 30%
❓ Other – 4%

While the results are close, they tell an important story: engagement is no longer one-dimensional.

🔹 websites remain a trusted and formal channel - offering structure, accessibility, and a digital record of feedback. But a user-friendly platform and proper promotion are essential for participation.

🔹 platforms are quickly rising in importance - providing real-time, informal, and more inclusive ways to interact with the public, particularly younger or underrepresented demographics.

🔹 meetings, although less favoured by percentage, still hold deep value for direct, human connection, especially when discussing complex or sensitive issues. They build and allow for meaningful two-way dialogue.

A standout comment from our network reminded us of the power of being physically present in people’s everyday environments: “Being present at public events, schools, train stations and shopping centres.”
This highlights a shift towards proactive, visible outreach.

At , we work with councils and government bodies to source Engagement Officers, Communications Advisors, and Community Development professionals who know how to blend digital strategies with grassroots presence, ensuring every voice has a chance to be heard.
