Community Capacity Building & Engagement Facilitator

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Community Capacity Building & Engagement Facilitator to support NDIS participants experiencing mental health challenges, social isolation, substance dependency, and complex psychosocial needs.
This role is designed to move beyond traditional support work by helping participants reconnect with purpose, community, routine, wellbeing, and meaningful life outcomes through innovative capacity building programs and community engagement initiatives.
The successful candidate will help create and facilitate programs that encourage healthier lifestyles, community participation, social connection, confidence building, independence, and long-term positive change.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Development & Facilitation
- Develop and facilitate engaging group and individual programs for NDIS participants.
Create initiatives focused on:
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Social and community participation
- Fitness and healthy routines
- Life skills and independence
- Employment readiness and volunteering
- Recovery-focused activities
- Confidence and self-esteem building
- Support participants to engage in meaningful activities and positive community connections.
Participant Support
- Build strong professional relationships with participants and families.
- Encourage participants to achieve personal goals and improve daily living skills.
- Support participants to access community resources, education, recreation, and employment pathways.
- Promote participant choice, independence, and inclusion.
Community Engagement
- Develop partnerships with local businesses, gyms, sporting clubs, recovery services, and community organisations.
- Coordinate community-based activities and events.
- Advocate for inclusive opportunities for participants within the broader community.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work collaboratively with Support Coordinators, Allied Health teams, Support Workers, and families.
- Maintain accurate case notes, progress updates, and incident reporting.
- Assist with program planning, participant engagement strategies, and service growth initiatives.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in Mental Health, Disability, Youth Work, Community Services, AOD (Alcohol & Other Drugs), or related sectors.
- Strong understanding of person-centred and recovery-focused practice.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to engage participants with complex behaviours or psychosocial challenges.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working With Children Check.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- First Aid & CPR Certificate.

- Certificate IV or Diploma in Mental Health, Community Services, Youth Work, Disability, or similar.
- Experience working within the NDIS.
- Group facilitation or program coordination experience.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice.
