YOU Queensland provides Employment-Related Assessments!
An employment-related assessment is used to understand a participant’s capacity for employment and provide clear direction around appropriate supports and next steps.
The assessment includes a structured overview of:
• Employment goals and interests
• Functional capacity in relation to work
• Strengths and support needs
• Barriers impacting employment
• Recommendations to guide next steps
A written report will be provided to support planning, changes in circumstances, plan reviews, and to ensure that supports reflect the participant’s current situation. It can also assist in providing clear supporting evidence for future supports where needed.

Are you feeling the pressure of rising costs? Whether you’re struggling financially, emotionally, mentally, or just need information about available support, come along to the COST OF LIVING EXPO 2026, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Maryborough Neighbourhood Centre- 25 Ellena Street.
This is also the Centre’s awareness for Anti Poverty Week this October, highlighting the importance of community, inclusion and access to services for those experiencing some challenges!

World Smile Day 🙂

We love the story behind this one!

Harvey Ball created the famous yellow smiley face back in 1963. Years later, in 1999, he created World Smile Day — with a pretty simple message:

“Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile.”

And we think that’s something we can all get behind!

It doesn’t have to be anything huge. Buy someone a coffee, send a nice message, give someone a genuine compliment, have a laugh with someone or just do something kind because you can.

So that’s our challenge for today — make one person smile. 🙂

October is Mental Health Month 🧠

Everyone has their struggles. Some you can see and plenty you can’t, and we all have days where things just feel a bit harder.

This month is a reminder about connection — with ourselves, the people around us, our community and even just getting outside.

What helps is different for everyone. It might be music, seeing your people, getting outside, hanging out with your pets, having a laugh, working towards something, or sometimes just switching off for a while.

We definitely don’t have all the answers, so we want to hear from you.

Did you know that over 5% of the world’s population – or 430 million people – require rehabilitation to address their disabling hearing loss?

September 23rd is International Day of Sign Languages.

Tomorrow is both a day of celebration as well as an opportunity to recognise the linguistic rights of Deaf people, promote equal access to information, education and services, and support the full recognition and use of national sign languages.

2026 is a particularly significant year. It marks the 75th anniversary of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and 20 years since the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

We loved getting behind Jeans for Genes this year — raising a little money, spreading some awareness and, of course, finding a good excuse to wear our jeans! 👖💙

A huge congratulations to everyone who went above and beyond to raise funds for such an important cause. It’s so wonderful to see the incredible support and generosity from the community.

We all did it together, but these guys did it with real gusto. Meet our incredible Top 10 individual Jeans for Genes fundraisers! 💙💪

They gave their time, rallied their communities and raised an extraordinary amount for research at Children’s Medical Research Institute – helping make this a record-breaking year.

Thank you for showing up for kids living with genetic conditions and the families who love them. You should be incredibly proud. We certainly are.
