Our project is community-led, so your input guides the programs and resources we develop.

In 2025, we asked West Coast community members what they wanted from the project, and their input helped shape what we’ve delivered throughout 2026. Now it’s time to plan for 2027.

Join us in Queenstown or Zeehan and tell us what matters to you, what our communities need, and what you’d like to see next.

You might know AUSTRAC as the Australian Government agency that works to detect and prevent money laundering, terrorism financing and other financial crime.

Scammers are now pretending to be AUSTRAC staff, contacting people by phone, email and messaging apps with convincing-looking documents and official-sounding messages.

They may claim you’re being investigated for money laundering or tax offences, that your bank accounts have been frozen, or that you need to make an urgent payment to avoid prosecution or penalties.

Here’s the important bit: AUSTRAC won’t do this.

AUSTRAC will never unexpectedly ask you to:
❌ Transfer money or make a payment
❌ Pay using cryptocurrency
❌ Send money through WhatsApp or Telegram
❌ Provide personal information in response to an unsolicited message

If you receive an unexpected message claiming to be from AUSTRAC, stop and take a moment. Don’t click, pay or share your details. Check the contact independently using official AUSTRAC channels.

Scammers can make things look very official. Don’t let the urgency rush you into a decision.
