Slow moving thunderstorms are producing heavy rainfall this evening.

Weather Situation: A complex low pressure system in Bass Strait and associated troughs is producing slow moving rainfall over central Victoria.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Seymour and Yarra Glen.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Be aware - heat, fire or recent storms may make trees unstable and more likely to fall when it's windy or wet.
* Check that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured. Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Stay indoors and away from windows.
* If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways.
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. Heavy rainfall may also increase the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
* Stay informed: Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency website/app/hotline.

Damaging winds with thunderstorms in the upper Hunter and Northwest this evening.

Weather Situation: A trough moving through the Hunter and Northwest Slopes and Plains is generating isolated thunderstorms with the risk of damaging wind gusts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Scone, Murrurundi, Barraba, Barrington Tops and Dungog.

103 km/h gust was recorded at Murrurundi Gap at 5:44 pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

Weather Situation: A complex low pressure system lies to the northeast of Tasmania and is bringing strong west to southwesterly flow over elevated parts of the Great Dividing Range today, extending to parts of the Illawarra coast this evening.

For SOUTHERN and CENTRAL RANGES: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible today and into early Friday.

For parts of the ILLAWARRA COAST from Bulli to Kiama: DAMAGING WIND GUSTS in excess of 90 km/h may develop this evening and continue through early Friday.

For NORTHERN RANGES above 1000m: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible this evening and through Friday morning.

Winds are expected to ease about the Southern and Central Tablelands and Illawarra early Friday morning, and the remainder of the warning area by late Friday morning.

Weather Situation: A strong burst of west to southwesterly winds will interact with topography producing damaging winds on the peaks and lee slopes of the ranges on Friday morning.

Strong to DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h, with gusts of around 90km/h, are expected to develop over the peaks and the immediate lee slopes of the ranges about Main Range in the early hours of Friday morning. Winds are expected to ease by late Friday morning.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

Damaging winds developing about parts of southern Victoria today.

Weather Situation: A deep low pressure system to the northeast of Tasmania extends a trough through Bass Strait. A burst of strong southwesterly winds associated with the trough will sweep across southern parts of Victoria today before winds abate later this evening.

Strong winds averaging 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are forecast to develop this morning along parts of the South West coast, extending to areas of the Central District this afternoon and early evening.

Winds will ease from the South West coast during the evening, and throughout the remainder of the warning area by late evening.

Gusty isolated storms with localised small hail are expected.
Strong wind gusts of 70 to 90km/h are expected along the eastern ranges, with the chance of locally higher gusts exceeding 90km/h being possible about a few of the higher mountain peaks.
Snowfalls are expected on the far southern ranges, with a period of blizzard conditions about the highest alpine peaks.

VIC:
Snowfalls are expected in eastern and northeastern mountain areas, with a period of blizzard conditions about the highest alpine peaks.
Downpours, gusty winds, and small hail are possible with some of the showers and isolated storms in southern and central VIC.

TAS:

Damaging winds developing about southern Victoria, extending to northeast alpine areas tonight with possible blizzards.

Weather Situation: A deep low pressure system is moving through Bass Strait, leading to an increase in westerly winds over southern and northeastern parts of the state this evening.

For the Southern Coasts: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible from late this afternoon. Winds are forecast to ease during Thursday morning. Strong southwesterly winds are then expected over parts of Central and Southern Victoria during the day, although these winds are not currently expected to reach severe thresholds.

For the NORTHEAST RANGES: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS up to 100 km/h are possible from this evening. BLIZZARD conditions are also possible above 1200 m during Wednesday night. Conditions are forecast to ease during Thursday morning.
