Excited to welcome our WHS Officer, Joseph Vella, to Sydney this week.

Joe has made the trip up from Melbourne for a busy week of site visits, team catch-ups and, most importantly, reinforcing the message of OHS across our projects.

At JV Recruitment, safety isn’t just a checklist or set of guidelines - it’s the foundation of everything we do. Having Joe on-site to speak directly with our teams about OHS policies helps ensure we stay aligned, vigilant and committed to keeping each other safe every day.

"Transparency is easy when things are going well. It’s a lot harder when they aren’t.

A few weeks ago, one of our Directors and I sat in a car on the way to a client to do what most avoid. We went to have a difficult, honest conversation.

To be completely transparent, during a period of rapid growth at JV Recruitment, we slipped up, and we made a few mistakes with this client. We recognised it, and we knew we couldn't hide behind an email or a phone call.

We got on site, looked them in the eye, and owned it. No excuses, no defensive talk, just the truth.

At JV, honesty isn't just a corporate slogan; it’s how we protect our relationships. Owning the tough moments is the only way to learn, improve, and ensure our clients always know exactly where they stand.

The result? That client is now back with us, bigger than ever. We’ve used that lesson to build a deeper talent pool and stronger systems, ensuring we support our partners at the level they deserve.

Is this the first time this is going to happen? Honestly, probably not. Mistakes happen all the time, but how you deal with them matters.

Erin Rodger from our Perm team and Barry Horgan from our Labour Hire team spent time listening, learning and catching up with people across the industry – from sessions like 'Australia's Largest Networking Event for Women in Construction" through to the conversations happening in between.

👏 Q1 Award Winner – Bex Clark 👏

Our quarterly Award recognises internal team members who consistently live the JV values and make a genuine impact across the business.

During quarter 1, Bex Clark was a standout and a very deserving winner.

What impressed us most was Bex’s resilience. After a challenging February, she came back in March with real intent - delivering outstanding results and showing exactly what she’s capable of at her best.

Her discipline and consistency underpin everything she does. Even during tougher periods, Bex stays the course, backs her process, and trusts that results follow consistency.

Bex is also playing an important role in continuing to grow our Permanent Recruitment offering in Queensland, building strong relationships and delivering great outcomes for both clients and candidates.

We're hiring for our team - in Queensland! ☀️

A little over 3 years ago, JV Recruitment expanded into Queensland, launching our Brisbane office and growing our footprint beyond VIC and NSW.

Since then, the team has continued to thrive - growing our client partnerships, expanding the team, with offices in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Led by Eddie Hayes, our QLD business has become a key part of JV’s continued growth across both labour hire and permanent recruitment within the construction sector.

🤣 Some of us like to think of ourselves as comedians at JV… but on this occasion, we decided to head out and hear from the people who get paid to be funny!

A few of the JV Melbourne crew recently headed to The Comic's Lounge for dinner and a show featuring six comedians.

Plenty of laughs, a good night out, and a nice chance to catch up outside of work, proving that it's definitely not 'all work and no play' at JV!

🥾We take a slightly different approach to helping our staff get grounded here at JV.

It’s intentional - but not forced.

At some point, whether early on or a little later, many of our team find themselves stepping away from the desk and heading out for a walk together.
More often than not, it involves a hill.

Along the way, there’s a simple ritual - carrying a rock to the top, and leaving it behind with a burden, a promise, or a hope. Simple. But it sticks.

Because it’s not really about the hike.
It’s about connection.

Because you can’t build strong teams without trust. And you don’t build trust sitting across a desk.

It’s about creating space and understanding the people you’re working alongside - properly, not just at surface level.

That approach comes from the values this business was built on.

Our founder, Stu, walked the Kokoda Track to honour his Grandfather, Joe Baker, who served in the 39th Battalion. At Isurava, four words are etched into stone:

Courage. Endurance. Mateship. Sacrifice. - Words that became the foundation for JV’s values.
