Meet Abz and Adam — two legends who’ve shown what resilience looks like.

After facing the challenges that come with life after incarceration, they didn’t just want a second chance — they earned it. We placed them with SVC Products Pty Ltd, and they’ve done the rest. Putting in the hard yards to turn an opportunity into a way of life.

There are setbacks. There are hurdles. But Abz and Adam keep showing up — with grit, drive, and a willingness to grow. We couldn’t be prouder.

Big thanks to SVC Products Pty Ltd for using their platform for a second chance. Your willingness to employ justice-affected individuals and care from 'board to boots' is outstanding. This is what real change looks like.

Massive thanks to Teegan Hartwick (Kelly) and Jobe MacShane for their continued mentorship and support of Abz and Adam! It takes a community to help someone reintegrate.

A huge week for our Victorian team! We presented to 134 inmates across 4 prisons, spoke with 4 employers open to reintegration employment and loved every minute. We took calls on the road, were taken back by people's stories and hopefully changed a few individual's views of the future along the way.

Shout out to the Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria - Employment Pathways Team for organising the sessions.
Leisha Thomas, Julie Sinco & Rima Owen-Horn

For any employer following along, a snapshot of the skills we interviewed this week were:
- Carpentry: Trade Qualified
- Plumbers: 5-20 years experience
- Mobile Plant Operators: Civil and
Mining/Production
- Cert 2 Engineering & Boilermakers
- HR Drivers
- Concretors

There is a person behind every offence. A story. A reason. A childhood. A trauma. All managed without the skills and support to deal with them.

Prison time is the punishment, a chance to rehabilitate. Instead, societal and personal stigma holds individuals to their offence long past incarceration.

We must see the human in front of us first, be curious to understand who they are and why they are and trust, love and support them as they face a journey many couldn't imagine.

Excited to share the news.

We are launching the Breaking Through Worooloo. A training, employment and mentoring pathway into the mining and resources industry. Do you ever think about not being able to get a job?

The effect that would have on your ability to secure a rental, to fuel your car up or to pay for credit for your phone.

Reintegrating individuals face these challenges and more, every day. Once off the merry-go-round of life, it is hard to get back on.

A human. A brother. A mum. A son. A daughter. A dad. A friend. A role model.

How we label someone affects how they see themself.

A key barrier many reintegrating individuals face is identity stigma. Convicted individuals are labelled as crims, ex-offenders, offenders and felons. These labels erode self-confidence and worth, motivation and trust. It confines individuals to the labelled identity and makes the road to rehabilitation, growth and healing much harder.

Reintegration is a change in identity. In order to change identity, one must free themselves from these labels. To be who they are, rather than how they are labelled, by society, industry or themself.

Changing our language to a human-first strategy, rather than a labelist approach creates the space for change. It creates the freedom to see beyond the past, and envision a future free of crime.

Understanding reintegration challenges is the first step to normalising employment with barriers. Knowing the wall of challenges an individual faces when re-entering the community empowers employers and individuals to connect, support and succeed long-term.

At Reboot Australia we focus on candidate-centred holistic support. We learn about individuals' dreams, their 'why', and their challenges and walk side by side as they face the daunting journey of reintegration. They take the steps, we are there to help them see the path.

$5.5 million for reintegrating individuals and their employers.

We are proud to announce our involvement in the recently announced Western Australia employment program, Job Reconnect Program. A $5.5 million budget to assist mature age and reintegrating individuals into the workforce. The funding is to be used to break down barriers to employment for both cohorts and provide employers with additional resources to support employees.

Employers and employees receive up to $1500 of funding. To find out more, reach out to us today.

The WA State Government is investing $5.5 million for a new program to help address skill needs by tapping into underutilised parts of the labour force to help ease skills shortages across key industries such as construction, hospitality and health.

Breaking down the stigma | It is time industry came to the table.

Our founder, Anthony, presented to The Reintegration Puzzle audience earlier this year, covering the layers, process and impact of breaking down the industry stigma of employing reintegrating individuals. It starts and ends with outcomes. Every success sends a ripple of change through the community.
