The Southern Employment and Training Network (SETN) is part of the Tasmanian Government’s Regional Jobs Hub Network. SETN provides a free service to help people in the Huon Valley and Kingborough municipalities find local jobs, ultimately giving more community members the opportunity to live and work in the place they call home. We are community focused and are here to help both job seekers and local employers. Regional Jobs Hubs bring local employers together with job seekers providing dedicated employment support services including career counselling, advice on how to get job ready, and transport options.

💙 Help make home a little easier — Home Care Cleaner opportunities

Anglicare Tasmania is seeking caring and reliable Home Care Cleaners to support older people in their own homes.

You’ll assist with cleaning, laundry, dishwashing and shopping, helping clients maintain a safe, comfortable home and their independence.

Cleaning experience is desirable but not essential.

We’re looking for people who:
💙 Have a genuine desire to value, celebrate and empower clients.
💙 Treat people with dignity and respect, uphold human rights and maintain privacy and confidentiality.
💙 Bring common sense, reliability and a practical approach.
💙 Follow Anglicare’s policies, procedures and safe work practices.

Applicants need a current driver’s licence, First Aid qualification and the required screening checks, along with availability for daytime weekday work and travel between clients’ homes.

💙 Make a difference as a Home Care Worker

Anglicare Tasmania is welcoming expressions of interest for part-time Home Care Workers, with a base rate of $37.07 per hour.

You’ll support older people in their homes and communities, helping with personal care, household tasks, meals, appointments and social connection — while supporting their independence and wellbeing.

We’re looking for people who:
💙 Have a genuine desire to value, celebrate and empower clients.
💙 Treat people with dignity and respect, uphold human rights and maintain privacy and confidentiality.
💙 Bring common sense, reliability and a caring, practical approach.
💙 Follow care plans and Anglicare’s policies and procedures.

Applicants need a Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability Work or Aged Care, or an equivalent qualification accepted by Anglicare, a current driver’s licence and First Aid qualification. Required screening checks also apply.

📣 ENTRY-LEVEL OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE ATO

Looking to start your career or try something new? The Australian Taxation Office is recruiting Casual Service Delivery Officers – APS2, with opportunities in Hobart and Burnie.

These roles may suit school leavers, career changers and people who enjoy helping others. You’ll assist clients over the phone, process information and work with a supportive team in a contact centre environment.

💰 Pay from $43.21 per hour, plus 15.4% superannuation.
🕒 Scheduled contact centre work between 8am and 6pm.
🇦🇺 Australian citizenship required.

☕ ARE YOU A CUSTOMER SERVICE SUPERSTAR?

Can you stay calm when it’s busy, keep track of multiple tasks and recognise when your team needs a hand?

SETN is helping a local café find a reliable Café Allrounder who enjoys hospitality and connects well with customers and colleagues.

We’re looking for:

✅ General café experience, including cooking, front-of-house service, dishwashing and cleaning.
✅ Basic barista skills — a barista qualification is a bonus, with training available.
✅ Open communication and confidence to ask questions when unsure.
✅ An honest, reliable team member who takes pride in their work.
✅ The ability to prioritise, adapt to the pace and step up when needed.

🕒 THE SHIFTS
Two to three weekday shifts, starting at 9am or 11am through to close, plus a weekend shift, preferably Saturday. Shifts are approximately 8–10 hours.

💰 PAY
Hospitality Award Rates:
Monday–Friday: $33.05 per hour
Saturday: $39.66 per hour

💬 5 tips to help you feel more confident in your next job interview

A job interview is more than answering questions. It is your opportunity to show an employer how your skills, experience and approach could benefit their team.

A little preparation can make a big difference:

🔍 Research the organisation and the role
Understand what the organisation does, what it values and what the position involves. Revisit the job advertisement and identify the key skills the employer is seeking.

🗣️ Practise your answers aloud
Prepare examples that demonstrate your skills, achievements and approach to workplace challenges. The STAR method can help you structure your responses clearly: Situation, Task, Action and Result.

👔 Dress for the workplace
Choose something comfortable, neat and appropriate for the organisation and role. When in doubt, aim for slightly more professional than the everyday workplace dress code.

❓ Prepare a few thoughtful questions
Asking questions shows that you are engaged and genuinely interested. You might ask about the team, what success looks like in the role or what the next steps will be.

📧 Follow up after the interview
A short email thanking the interviewer for their time can leave a positive final impression and reinforce your interest in the position.

And remember: an interview is a conversation, not an interrogation. The employer is learning about you, but you are also deciding whether the opportunity feels right for you.
