Great to see the AFL - Australian Football League season underway, and especially pleasing to confirm that Kite Recruitment Group has renewed and strengthened its long-term partnership with ahead of next week’s season opener.

Following an impressive 2025 campaign that resulted in a remarkable 4th-place finish in the Victorian Football League, the club enters this season with genuine momentum and every reason for optimism.

We went to our first live family Football match on Saturday…

They’ve been the Tennis, the GP, heaps of Footy games, this was their first live Football encounter, and they loved it!

At their age, I left home every non-school morning with a ball, a water bottle, and £1.
One rule: home for dinner.

Now I’m watching (and hoping) my kids catch the same bug 🙌🏼

Grateful for a very unique Monday afternoon.

Natalie and I were invited to the Melbourne Victory Football Club players‑sponsored lunch on Monday and had the privilege of sitting with Kite Recruitment Group’s sponsored player, Juan Mata García for a couple of hours.

I was very excited (and a little nervous), we chatted about our path to Australia, our families and upbringing... then when he could finally get a word in, we heard about his journey through Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as his more recent experiences in different countries with unique cultures, he was also generous enough to share a few behind‑the‑scenes World Cup stories, that were fascinating.

A very down‑to‑earth guy with an elite résumé.

Big thanks again to Melbourne Victory Football Club, Marko Gluscevic, Mia Thomson and everyone involved for hosting us and for the hospitality.

We sincerely appreciate it.

Business networking is a lot like football (or even bowls) ... it’s a team game...

On Wednesday I attended my first Melbourne Victory Football Club’s Victory in Business networking event for lunch at Middle Park Hotel and an afternoon on the greens at Middle Park Bowls Club.

There was a great mix of people in the room. Different industries, different personalities, different stories, same goal: build better businesses and support each other along the way.

Great to have meaningful conversations with Slaven Vranesevic Robert Sretenovic Josh Graf Bianca Cubitt Frankie Condello Jeeva Sanjeevan.

I look forward to catching up again, meeting with and speaking to more of us at the next Game/Event.

Takeaways for me:
- Great ideas for your business can often come from people outside of your industry.
- One genuine conversation beats a stack of business cards.
- Community matters... it’s easier to be bold when you’ve got good people around you.

Yesterday marked my 40th birthday, and for years, we’ve made it a tradition to head up to FNQ to celebrate with the family.

This year, however, an opportunity, something unexpected (and pretty special) came my way. I made a call to swap palm trees for purpose.

Instead of heading North with Natalie and the kids, I stayed put, and it’s safe to say, I don’t regret it one bit!

Frankston Football Club recently invited me to one of their CEO lunches, where I met Caroline Carnegie, MD of Melbourne Victory Football Club ... It’s funny how random encounters can lead to such great opportunities.

I’m absolutely buzzing to share that Kite Recruitment Group are now proud sponsors of Melbourne Victory Football Club, and the official player sponsor of the legend, Juan Mata García.

Meeting Juan at Victory’s season launch today, a World Cup, European Cup, and Champions League Winner (+much more!) was a surreal moment for me. Genuine, humble, and inspiring in every way.

I look forward to some duels on the golf course.

40 may have started differently than expected, but proof again that new conversations, experiences, and opportunities are always worth exploring!!

As a lifelong Man Utd fan… a dream come true for me 🥹💪🏼.

Last Friday I joined the Frankston CEO Club, with special guest speaker, the fantastic Caroline Carnegie, Managing Director of Melbourne Victory Football Club. Caroline shared inspiring stories of Victory’s growth, challenges, community and their future ambitions.

Personally, it was insightful to hear about the early impacts of their new signing, one of my favourite footballers to watch, winner of almost every major trophy in Europe there is, including a FIFA World Cup, Juan Mata García.

We also discussed Common Goal, co-founded by Juan Mata García, where players pledge at least 1% of their salary to fund football-based projects tackling education, inclusion, diversity and youth empowerment around the world - Awesome!!

It looks like a bunch of us will be heading to the Victory’s season opener against Auckland FC at AAMI park, in a couple of weeks.
