Qantas and Alliance Aviation Overhaul E-Jet Wet-Lease Agreement ✈️🤝

Alliance Aviation Services and Qantas Airways have finalized a major restructuring of their long-running Embraer E190 wet-lease partnership.

The renegotiation comes after Alliance previously flagged that the original, pandemic-era contract had become commercially unviable and cash flow negative due to significant margin erosion and outdated cost-escalation mechanisms.

Higher Pricing: Secured meaningful price increases and an updated annual cost-escalation mechanism, effective July 1, ensuring better alignment with current operational costs.

Fleet Rationalization: The number of E190s dedicated to the Qantas network will be scaled back in stages from 30 down to 23 aircraft across the course of FY27.

Operational Alignment: Alliance will right-size its workforce and operating model to match the reduced aircraft commitment, targeting long-term financial resilience.

While the reduced fleet size marks a contraction in the scope of the partnership, the higher pricing structure is expected to heavily boost Alliance's future profitability and cash flow. Both carriers maintain that the core partnership remains strong as the E-Jets continue to anchor key regional routes.
