Survey Officer – Recreational Fishing

Fisheries Queensland, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries through Synergie Australia

Salary: $39.67 for Friday, $55.54 Saturday and $71.40 Sunday rate (including casual loading)

Location: Burnett Heads or Bundaberg Boat Ramp

Key Duties:
You will be interviewing recreational fishers at local boat ramps to collect research information about recreational fishing. You will also need to identify, count and measure the fish they catch for research purposes. You will not be enforcing fisheries regulations. There will be combination of 1 to 2 shifts per week. Shifts are done on both Fridays and weekends, either during the morning (9am-1pm) or afternoon (12pm-4pm).

Full training is provided.

Skills and abilities:
Good communication skills, attention to detail, reliable, work autonomously, fish identification, knowledge of recreational fishing, ability to use phone and email communication. Physical requirement: ability to be able to climb in and out of boats if required and may involve some heavy lifting.
