We are extremely proud to see the results of our PLS & SWP team's hard work. Our very friendly and excellent worker Watson, worked for us as part of the Seasonal Workers Program last year. Watson with the funds he made in Australia, has shared with us that he begun the foundations of his house back in the Solomon Islands, making the goal of building his own house a reality!

Watson is joined by many other fantastic, friendly and skilled workers who are working with us as part of our ongoing skilled labour recruitment through the Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) & Seasonal Workers Program (SWP) across Australia.

Our Indigenous Affairs Officer/Account Manager Kathy met up at the with our newest arrivals from Kiribati last night at Brisbane Airport.

This fantastic group are joining our head office team today to commence our on-boarding process, an important and essential step to ensure they are comfortable and ready to go!

Many have never been outside of their home town before, this process includes providing them with information about the Australian way of life, pre-employment inductions, WHS familiarisation as well as setting up their Bank Accounts, Phones and TFN’s before commencing their journey to Longreach over the weekend!

The PLS commenced on 1 July 2018 and enables citizens from selected Pacific countries to commence employment in rural and regional Australia for up to three years!

ALL STAFF IMPORTANT: COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation update (As at March 5th):
All staff please note, as is usual practice, if you feel unwell, please do not come into work and contact your manager as per normal absentee guidelines.
In addition, Health departments have updated its advice with Iran & South Korea added to the travel ban list. This means that Australian subjects only are permitted to enter Australia from Iran, South Korea and China and will be asked to immediately commence self-quarantine for a period of 14 days.

Additionally, workers who have travelled from Italy or South Korea will be asked to refrain from coming to work for a period of 14 days. Other countries to be considered a risk and have travelled in the last 14 days include;
• Cambodia
• Hong Kong
• Indonesia
• Japan
• Singapore
• Thailand
If you have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days you must self-isolate and present a clearance certificate to work.

Our Account Manager Leanne checked in some of our boys in Gunnedah after the recent wet weather, taught them how to make omelettes; and put on a Sunday Roast!

Creating get togethers such as this allow us to “check in” on everyone to ensure they’re fitting in to the local community, at work as well as an opportunity to catch up with everyone!

Our next group of friendly Solomon Islanders have joined us today, and are out shopping with our Account Manager Wilian! We will be assisting them with getting food and basic goods (flowers not included!) to assist them with starting their new roles in Regional NSW!

Over the weekend the newest editions of our PLS team joined up with the already existing crew of Solomon and Ni-Van’s (Vanuatu)! Our Account Managers Leanne and Michelle spent the weekend ensuring they got to their new homes safely and were able to get familiar with the area and the next stage of their exciting career!

Many of these workers have never been overseas before and despite their close proximity to Australia, the cultural differences they’re exposed to can be a scary experience! Familiarity and integration by our LSA team is an extremely important part of our ongoing skilled labour recruitment and on-boarding processes through the Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS).
