International School Anti-Discrimination Task Force Completes Global Guidance Framework to Support School Belonging and Inclusion
In October 2022, the International School Anti-Discrimination Task Force (ISADTF) was established through a collaboration among leading international education organisations, including the ECIS, the Educational Collaborative for International Schools, the Association of International Educators and Leaders of Color (AIELOC) KDSL Global, and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB). These organisations came together with a shared commitment to supporting schools in creating learning and working environments where all members of the community can thrive.
The Task Force was formed in recognition of the fact that students, educators, leaders, and staff are best positioned to succeed when they experience a strong sense of belonging, feel respected and valued, and have equitable opportunities to participate, contribute, and flourish within their school communities.
Over the past four years, educators and practitioners from around the world have collaborated to develop practical, research-informed guidance for schools across six key areas:
🔴 Accreditation
🔵 Governance
🟢 Leadership
🟡 Human Resources
🟣 Humanising Pedagogy
🟠 Student Agency
We are pleased to announce that all six committees have now completed their guidance documents, marking a significant milestone in the Task Force's work.
Together, these resources offer schools reflection tools, promising practices, and practical recommendations to help them identify and address discrimination in school policies and everyday practices, and strengthen wellbeing and belonging for students, educators, leaders, and staff.
The guidance is offered as a voluntary, research-informed resource and may be adapted to each school’s mission, community context, and applicable local and national laws. Rather than prescribing a single approach, it encourages inquiry, dialogue, and the consideration of multiple perspectives.
Through these resources, we hope to support schools in cultivating environments where diverse perspectives are valued, relationships are strengthened, and every member of the community has the opportunity to learn, contribute, and thrive.
We invite international school leaders and educators to explore these resources and consider how they may support their own communities in fostering cultures of belonging, engagement, and learning for all.
