Last Sunday, I decided to do things differently. My goodness, I thought I hated routine â until I found out Iâm just a regular human being who actually loves it. Doing things the same way, at the same time, every day: going to the gym, having breakfast, even visiting the same places.
We humans thrive on routine because it helps our brains â it just makes our days run smoother. And thatâs totally fine. But have you ever thought about the benefits of doing things differently?
A few years ago, I read one of the best books of my life, The Alzheimerâs Solution. It shares practical, easy ways to stimulate your brain â basically, it teaches you how to âtake your brain to the gym.â
What I discovered is that many of those brain exercises also helped me become more creative.
Let me give you a few examples:
Instead of taking the same route to work every day, try a different one sometimes.
Read books that have nothing to do with your job.
If youâre right-handed, try writing one sentence a day with your left hand (itâs surprisingly fun).
These small habits make your brain more active, increasing and strengthening the connections between your neurons â which naturally boosts creativity.
I wonât get too scientific, but think about it: on social media, everyoneâs trying to come up with fresh content, be more creative, and go viral. Sometimes, the best way to be more creative is to disrupt your own routine in simple, healthy ways â for your brain, your mindset, and even your content.
What do you think? Too crazy, or does it make sense?
