• €450 monthly pocket money
• A furnished bedroom and meals with your host family

Belgium candidate check.

You could qualify if:

• You’re 18 to 25 years old
• You’re a South African citizen
• You’ve completed Grade 12 or equivalent
• You have childcare experience
• You can provide at least two childcare references with non-related children
• You’re single with no dependants
• You’re a non-smoker
• You have a clear criminal record
• You’re ready to commit to the one-year programme

And the driving question?

For the current families, 6 of the 7 don't require a driver's licence.

For six of our seven current Belgian families, that is perfectly okay. 🇧🇪

Belgium is one of those opportunities candidates sometimes overlook because they assume driving is compulsory.

Right now, it isn’t for most of the families looking.

That means your childcare experience, personality, maturity and compatibility with the family can take centre stage.

One family does need a driver, so candidates with a licence are very welcome too.

Seven Belgian families are looking for their next au pair.

Yes, seven.

And here’s the bit that could make Belgium far more possible than you thought:

• 6 families are open to candidates without a driver's licence
• Only 1 family currently requires you to have a driver's licence
• Placements ASAP
• Matching can begin once you’re pre-approved

So if “I don’t have my licence” has been the reason you haven’t applied, Belgium may have just removed that excuse.
