This role is for an experienced mining professional who understands the critical responsibility that comes with legal appointment, executes blasting activities with precision and discipline, and maintains high standards of safety in a fiery mine environment.

𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: Friday, 12 June at 5:00 PM

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
ポFulfil all legal responsibilities as an appointed Miner during blasting activities
ポOversee the safe preparation and ex*****on of blasting operations
ポConduct thorough workplace inspections prior to all blasting activities
ポVerify the clearance of all personnel and equipment before blasting commences
ポEnsure safe re-entry conditions following blasting
ポEnsure full compliance with statutory and mine-specific blasting procedures at all times
ポSupport the safe ex*****on of shaft sinking activities where required
ポProvide guidance on blasting safety and risk controls to operational teams

𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 & 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀:
ポValid Blasting Certificate for Coal Mines or Fiery Mines
ポEligibility for legal appointment as a Miner in terms of MHSA regulations
ポDemonstrated experience in coal mining blasting operations
ポSound knowledge of blasting procedures specific to fiery mine conditions
ポExperience in an underground coal mining environment
ポKnowledge of explosives handling and associated safety requirements
ポWorking knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act
ポUnderstanding of risk assessments and workplace inspections
ポMedical fitness, including the ability to pass all required medical examinations and pre-employment screening

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀:
ポShaft sinking experience
・Valid driver’s license

𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
ポAll candidates must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance in line with National Key Point requirements and client access protocols

OMI Group is looking for a Onsetter / Bank Assistant for a client in the Secunda Area, Mpumalanga.

This role is for candidates with mining experience who can assist with shaft bank operations, material handling, signalling support, hoisting operations, and safe working practices on site.

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁: This is a 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲. It is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

ポMust be medically fit

ポMust be willing to work shifts

・2+ years’ experience in a mining environment
ポExperience in shaft sinking will be advantageous
ポBasic knowledge of shaft bank operations
ポUnderstanding of safety procedures
ポAbility to assist with material handling
