👏 Celebrating Old Collegian Success 🎉 🔴 ⚫ ⚪
Christopher Mundell (OC 2025) has not even finished his first year out of Maritzburg College and he's demonstrating excellence at an incredible level.
🤩 Christopher managed an average 89.61% for his first semester at Stellenbosch University, studying B Accounting. The Dean invited Christopher and his mentor, Keegan Kisten (OC 2022) to acknowledge Christopher's success. We asked Christopher a couple of questions...
1. How did your time at College influence your ability to reach an accolade like this?
"College taught me that effort gets rewarded, so when I arrived at University, I had the mindset that I’m just going to try my best and worry about the results later. I also had wonderful teachers (like my accounting teacher Mr Budhoo) who instilled in me a desire to learn and understand which helped me stay motivated and continue working during the semester. Finally, the people I met and friends I made at college really inspired me to be better person and taught me so much and I brought those lessons down to Stellenbosch University."
2. What is one piece of advice you give to current 5th and 6th formers?
"Just enjoy your time at College. As much as it is important it is to work hard and try achieve your best, you must make the most of where you are right now. I don’t remember what I got for each and every test during high school, but I made memories that will last me a lifetime. The memories are what stick with you."
3. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
"I hope to have graduated Cum laude with a Bachelor of Accounting from Stellenbosch University and be in my second year of articles, on my way to becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant. Although I know that, whatever happens, God will guide me to where I need to be."
