Cross-border employment culture – by design.
Employing EOR staff from South Africa into English-speaking Europe makes strong commercial sense. Through West Coast EOR, businesses gain access to an educated, English-proficient talent pool at a significantly lower cost — without setting up a local entity. Time zone alignment with the UK and Europe makes collaboration seamless.
But remote EOR employment requires intentional leadership.
Office culture is often built in informal moments — coffee breaks, quick chats, shared stories. Remote employees can miss out, which may lead to isolation or overly transactional communication if not managed well.
Successful cross-border teams design culture on purpose.
Simple ways to build cohesion:
• Virtual coffee chats with no agenda
• Informal Slack/Teams channels
• Culture buddies for remote staff
• Visible celebration of milestones
• Personal check-ins before meetings
• Occasional in-person meetups where possible
Cross-border employment works — but culture does not happen by accident. It must be built.
If you are considering starting or expanding an EOR team, let’s talk.
