Multi‑Disciplinary Social Worker Supervisor
In this role, the supervisor provides strategic clinical and administrative oversight to social workers, auxiliary staff, and multi‑disciplinary professionals, ensuring cohesive and integrated service delivery across the unit. The position leads and coordinates holistic, child‑centred case management processes, fostering collaboration between disciplines to strengthen outcomes for children and families. This includes facilitating case conferences, MDT reviews, and structured planning forums that support consistent decision‑making, professional accountability, and high‑quality practice.
Statutory Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure full compliance with the Children’s Act, DSD Norms and Standards, and organisational requirements. Provide oversight and sign‑off on statutory reports, assessments, safety plans, and court documentation while monitoring adherence to statutory timeframes, documentation quality, and casework standards.
Casework Governance & Programme Management
Oversee the delivery of child protection, early intervention, therapeutic, and family support services. Support permanency planning, reunification assessments, and alternative care interventions, ensuring all decisions are ethical, defensible, and aligned with best‑practice principles.
Audit, Compliance & Risk Management
Prepare teams and programmes for DSD audits, site visits, and court scrutiny. Ensure POPIA‑compliant handling of sensitive information and proactively identify operational risks, implementing corrective and preventative measures.
Staff Development, Mentorship & Wellbeing
Mentor and develop social workers and auxiliary staff, strengthening professional competence. Facilitate debriefing, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development while promoting ethical practice, resilience, and a supportive team culture.
Stakeholder Engagement & Inter‑Sectoral Coordination
Liaise with DSD, Children’s Courts, SAPS, schools, health services, NGOs, and other partners. Represent the organisation in statutory and inter‑sectoral processes and strengthen collaborative relationships to support integrated service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in social work
Current SACSSP registration
Minimum 5 years’ experience in child protection and statutory services
Supervisory or senior social work experience (essential)
In‑depth knowledge of:
Children’s Act and DSD Norms and Standards
Statutory processes, court procedures, and reporting requirements
Ethical and professional practice standards
Multi‑disciplinary case management
Valid driver’s licence (essential)
