Congratulations to the graduates of the 13th annual Worcester Youth Leadership Institute! Thank you to the generous sponsors of this year's cohort: National Grid and Massachusetts Port Authority. 🎉

This year’s Worcester Youth Leadership Institute (WYLI) graduation was a celebration of an inspiring group of young leaders—and a moment to remember someone whose impact on this program and our Chamber community will not be forgotten, Walter Jovel.

For 10 of the 13 summers of the program, Walter served as the facilitator, helping guide, encourage, and inspire young people as they developed their own leadership skills. Walter passed away in May, and his presence has been deeply missed. During the graduation ceremony last week, we were honored to pay tribute to his years of service and the legacy he leaves behind. We were especially grateful to have Walter’s parents and brother join us as we celebrated the difference he made in the lives of so many.

Walter believed in the potential of young people and gave generously of his time and talents to help them see that potential in themselves. His influence lives on through WYLI, through the leaders he helped shape, and throughout our community. Walter was also a proud graduate of Leadership Worcester Class of 2021 and a valued member of our Chamber community.

We miss Walter, and we are grateful for the many years he shared with us. His legacy will remain an important part of WYLI for years to come.
