Here is a fascinating video about Cowan Lake State Park and its history. The lake's waters cover more than 20 Native American burial mounds, only one of which has been excavated. This part of Ohio is known worldwide for its fossil accessibility because of the Cincinnati Arch. We highly recommend watching this video to learn about the area we call home. Click the website address, not the picture, to go to the video. FYI, you will need to watch a short advertisement before you can play this video.

This is a picture of the Cowan Lake sunset, taken as we headed in after an afternoon of crappie fishing last night. As the weather cools and the American Lotus are in bloom, it is a perfect time to get on the lake. Try out our new ADA-compliant paddle sports launch and handicapped parking area on the north side of the lake by the campground beach. Kayaks are available for rent at the Campground Commissary.
