You are invited! My friend and fellow artist, Valeri Darling, and I recently discovered a group of women nationally calling themselves "The League of Adventurous Women" and we thought this sounded like a fun way to get a group of civic minded women together to work some good for our community and to have some fun at the same time! So we are sending out the word that we are recruiting women who wou
ld like to get together about once a month and raise some money for a local charity....all while having "adventures". We are not about extreme sports, or risky endeavors, although some of the events we have planned would definitely fall into the "adventurous" category. We are more than a Red Hat or a Pink Hat club! We are women on a mission! Our stated purpose is to empower women of all ages to build confidence and friendships through new adventures while doing something worthwhile for our community. A portion of our "adventure" event fees will be dedicated to a special local charity. More about that as we go along! Right now, we are sending out this email to see who might be interested and who might commit to the group. We will not collect dues or be a conduit for sales. But we will need leaders, followers, participants, planners, experts, organizers, and all your ideas. We hope to connect all types of women who might have a bucket list they can't see doing on their own! Whether you are focused on a single activity like sailing, mountain biking, or hiking, learning to paint, taking a cruise up the Columbia river, or just having a buddy to go wine tasting with...we hope you'll share your adventurous longings with us! Although not everyone will want to participate every time we have an adventure...we hope you will support your fellow adventurers and suggest ones you WOULD like to participate in! The League hopes all women can live more inspired, creative and adventurous lives. The League believes that as women change their own lives, they help create better lives for the generations that follow. This is not an exclusive club...invite your girlfriends...all of them....young or old....forward the email, text, post it on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram! Challenge the status quo! We know many of you are busy working girls, moms, teachers, artists, and have limited time...but one event a month seems like very little to dedicate to yourself! All while supporting our local community! Here are some things we have ideas for! We are sure you will have many more! Block tickets for Sherlock Holmes at the Magenta Theater in Vancouver (in costume) with cocktails after! Fall Wreath Making at the Good News Garden and Café in Mt. Hood, followed by lunch! Mad Hatter's Tea Party to show off your favorite chapeau! A Sleigh Ride on the Water aboard the Columbia Paddleboat to view the Portland Christmas Parade of Boats
"Twist Your Dickens" - an audience participation spoof on "A Christmas Carol" at Portland Center Stage
The Jingle Bus! (Caroling at Vancouver Care Homes)
A Movable Feast - Monet Style Pique Nique! Learning to Kayak or Stand Up Paddleboarding with Columbia River Kayak in Ridgefield
