The final images from the Fuji FP 100c packs I bought about 10 years ago. These were taken at dyeing workshop yesterday. Sadly, this film has been discontinued and now runs $400+ per 10 pack. These were taken on two different cameras that each have their own technical issues. I got only 4 images from 8 attempts due to one ejecting two prints per shot and a light leak in the other. Thankfully, covering the accordion seam seemed to do the trick (image #2). The double exposure is from the camera that ejected two frames at once. And don’t we all love a happy little mistake? 😉

Sometimes the algorithm gets it really right…like when it showed me workshop posts. I spent the day in the Catskills with some amazing women learning from Yu about the history of indigo dyeing and the traditional batik process. This was exactly what I needed at this time of the school year - the process of drawing with melted wax was so calming and watching the dye oxidize to blue in the sun is as wonderous as watching a darkroom print reveal itself.

Since I can’t post photos of students, I decided to challenge myself to capture some moments that make field day so amazing and the care that our teachers, admin, and parents put into making the day so special for our students. Remember what it felt like to get into that potato sack or to run under the sprinklers? the excitement of raising that parachute over your head or to grab onto thar tug of war rope? It is still that magical.

I do not sleep well at night and for three nights in a row have found myself slowly awakening in the middle of the night with this verse playing in my mind. It’s no surprise since I often think about returning to the water and rowing; appreciating all that it has given me. I’m taking it as a message from myself, though I usually dream in images. Do your dreams sing to you?

Some highlights from our Balloons Over Broadway parade today. I wish you could see the smiles on our students faces, how happy they were to parade through the Kindergarten school and how they were beaming when they saw their Kindergarten teachers. I think this may be my favorite school event ever. 💕
