It was a productive and joyous weekend on Long Island at the 2026 Northeast Region Conference, August 13-16!

Chapter executive leadership from Massachusetts to Virginia showed up and represented for their chapters. Attendees discussed important topics affecting alumni and current students and how as part of the FAMU NAA what we can do to play a part to support FAMU.

There was work, but there was play too! One thing about Rattlers we know how to balance when we fellowship! Thanks to the Long Island Rattlers Chapter of The FAMU NAA for being a great host and showing us that nice, Long Island hospitality!!

See y’all next year in New Jersey!!

Just a brief recap of our fun time with our NY FAMULY! 🧡💚🗽

The dark clouds did gather on the horizon over Harlem on July 11, but our alumni and incoming freshmen and family still showed up and the sun showed out!

The partnership with the FAMU NAA-New York and FAMU NAA-Long Island Chapters was another successful joint event! We thank the executive board leadership from both chapters and the presence from our Northeast Region’s 1st VP, Sebastian Alexander!

Hey NY FAMUly! Wondering how to get involved in our local chapter? 💚🧡🗽

This week kicked off the 2026-2027 membership year! The FAMU NAA annual membership year is July 1-June 30.

As a challenge for our NY Rattlers, we’re trying to get to 18 paid chapter members by Founders Day!! That means new members and those that renew! That’s three months to reach our goal. With hundreds of Rattlers residing in NYC, Westchester and the greater area, we think that’s achievable!

To join the NAA, go to the NAA’s website at famunaa.org and click on “Join the NAA” at the top of the page. Then select the Northeast Region, then the NY Chapter as your primary chapter. DM us if you have any questions. Comment “join” and we’ll send you the link!

It’s our favorite time of the year!! 🎂🧡💚

On July 11, the New York and Long Island alumni chapters are back with our annual picnic to celebrate our New York high school graduates and college transfer students that are heading to FAMU this fall and gather all the alumni together! Share with any current students, summer interns, alumni, recent graduates! 📚🎓📓

We don’t charge to attend the picnic, but we do kindly ask for monetary donations to help the chapter as we provide food and drinks for the events as well as FAMU items for the freshman if you can or can’t attend the picnic. If you would like to donate any FAMU nalia or items for the event, please send us an email at [email protected]. And for those heading to the Jay-Z concert, kick it with us uptown then head to Yankee Stadium to enjoy the show! See you at the park! 🍔🌭🥪🥤

Someone said WE OUTSIDE THIS SUMMER?? 👀💚🧡🗽

Next week, we have our virtual general body meeting Tuesday on Zoom at 7pm. It’s the last meeting the membership year, so we’ll discuss how to get engaged in the chapter for next year, how to pay chapter dues and the upcoming regional conference in August on Long Island.

Thursday we’ll meet at Native in Harlem from 5-8pm. This is a restaurant, so it’s open for all ages, so our summer interns that are current students (under 21) are welcome to attend to network, enjoy the city and meet fellow Rattlers in the city! Happy hour ends at 7 but stay for Karaoke Night afterwards!

All this info and more are shared on our email blast so if you don’t get them please send a dm with your email address. See you soon!
