Call for Papers and Posters for the 2026 MAENPP Annual Meeting

We encourage attendees, students, researchers, Extension personnel, and other professionals to consider presenting their work at this year's meeting. The deadline for Paper and Poster submissions is September 25th, 2026. Note: An abstract is required at the time of manuscript submission that will be published in the Midsouth Entomologist. An example is attached to this email. If you do not wish to publish the manuscript, please let me know upon submission!

Important Registration Information
- Complete one registration form per attendee.

- A Google/Gmail account is not required to complete the registration form.

- MSU employees and students will need to provide a Banner/Grant account number, including the fund number, for payment of the registration fee. Attendees from outside MSU, please pay via the PayPal link in the registration form. Payment can also be made by check by reaching out to Santos Portugal directly ([email protected]).

- For those paying through PayPal, a payment link will be available upon completion of the registration form. Meeting registration is not complete until payment has been received through the PayPal link.

-Early Bird Registration ends September 25, 2026. Registrations submitted after this date will be subject to a $50 increase in the registration fee. Registration fees can be found in the registration link above.

Dear Students and Faculty,

Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 MAENPP Scholarships and J.C. Redd Memorial Scholarship.

The MAENPP scholarships will be awarded to one M.S. and one Ph.D. student pursuing research in entomology or plant pathology at a Mississippi institution.

The J.C. Redd Memorial Scholarship is available to a Mississippi resident pursuing graduate research in entomology, with preference given to students working in applied entomology and integrated pest management.

Applicants may apply for both scholarships using a single application if they meet the eligibility requirements. Applicants must also be MAENPP members and be registered for the 2026 MAENPP Annual Meeting taking place on October 26–27, 2026 in Starkville, MS.

I would highly encourage graduate students to apply for this opportunity! Application deadline: September 25, 2026, at 5:00 PM CST.

This special feature showcases "Clara S. Ludlow: a Mississippi A&M Graduate and American Military Entomology Pioneer". This early 20th century scientist was not only one of the first female graduates of Mississippi A&M (now Mississippi State University), but her work with mosquitoes was also "...a major influence in military medical entomology...".

Did you know that the MAENPP publishes a journal called the Midsouth Entomologist? https://scholarsjunction.msstate.edu/midsouthent/

This online, open access journal features research articles, reports, abstracts, and special features, contributed by and of interest to entomologists in the Midsouth region (Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana). Check it out!

72nd Annual Conference of the Mississippi Association of Entomologists, Nematologists, and Plant Pathologists (MAENPP) (October 26–27, 2026)

The Mississippi Association of Entomologists, Nematologists, and Plant Pathologists (MAENPP) Conference will be held October 26–27, 2026 at the Bost Extension Center at Mississippi State University. As always, we will have an industry sponsored steak supper Monday night (October 26). Student presentations will be on Monday, and other presentations will be given on Tuesday. The awards banquet will be held at noon on Tuesday. We encourage everyone to do their best to attend and participate in this year's meeting.
