With the World Series now over, it is a good time to reflect on the data revolution that is happening in baseball. Measurement data is being talked about like never before....exit velocities, launch angles spin rates, yards covered have completely surpassed pitching velocities, the only measurement discussed previously.
A lot of this same data is being measured at the elite youth level, and that ability is significantly influencing the player development process. Thanks to all of the tech companies who are making all of this incredible data collection possible: Pocket Radar, Diamond Kinetics, Blast Motion, Rapsodo, HitTrax, and FlightScope.
None of the athlete profile data could be collected easily without modern registration platforms like LeagueApps, SportsEngine, an NBC Sports Group Company, TeamSnap, and Stack Sports.
Data and technology is here to stay....whether it’s profiles, performance data, or a combo of both. Embrace it, engage with it, and use it to enhance the experience athletes have as they develop their skills.
