Hola SACNistas,
We encourage you to participate in the ShutDownSTEM event happening this Wednesday, June 10th (tomorrow). There has been a call to shut down STEM/Academia in response to the inhumane murders of Black people and the many examples of police brutality that we have all witnessed. We have an ethical obligation to address and combat anti-Black racism in STEM. In short, the call is to cease all STEM and academic work. Instead, the day should be a break for Black academics to process, recover, and heal, as well as a day for non-Black academics to reflect on racism within the community and commit to actionable items to eradicate racism from academia. We have done some of the work for you and compiled a list of resources you can share with your lab and/or discuss during lab meeting:
Here is a PDF with anti-racist resources from shutdownstem.com:

To end our note, we want to remind you racism exists in many forms and at different levels. The graphic below shows just how embedded racism is in every facet of our society. This is why it is imperative for all of us to come together and tear down these societal structures.
"Tu lucha es nuestra lucha."
