Celebrating the Greenest U.S. Presidents 🌿
This President’s Day, we’re honoring the leaders who prioritized environmental stewardship and laid the groundwork for a more sustainable future:
🌲 Theodore Roosevelt (1901–1909): Established the U.S. Forest Service, created five national parks, and signed the Antiquities Act, preserving countless national monuments.
🌳 Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933–1945): Launched the Civilian Conservation Corps, which employed millions in conservation projects, and expanded national forests and wildlife refuges.
🌄 Lyndon B. Johnson (1963–1969): Signed the Wilderness Act and the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act, protecting vast areas of land for future generations.
🏞️ Richard Nixon (1969–1974): Founded the Environmental Protection Agency and enacted the Clean Air Act, establishing modern environmental policy.
☀️ Jimmy Carter (1977–1981): Created the Department of Energy, promoted renewable energy, and installed solar panels on the White House.
💡 George W. Bush (2001–2009): Expanded tax credits for renewable energy and initiated the Department of Energy Loan Program, spurring investment in clean energy projects.
🌎 Barack Obama (2009–2017): Introduced the Clean Power Plan and used the Antiquities Act to protect large areas of land and water.
🌱 Joe Biden (2021–2025): Signed the Inflation Reduction Act, a substantial climate initiative, and committed to reducing hydrofluorocarbons to combat climate change.
