Here's what I actually look for when I'm building a safety candidate pipeline — and none of it has anything to do with what someone looks like:

— CSP, CHST, or OSHA 500/501 trainer certification
— Field experience in construction, turnaround, or shutdown environments
— A track record of clean audits and low incident rates
— The ability to hold a line with a crew under pressure

If you check those boxes, you are exactly who plants, contractors, and project owners across the Gulf Coast are looking for right now — whether or not anyone's told you that yet.

I'm actively building a roster of women with this background for Safety Coordinator, Safety Advisor, and Site Safety Specialist roles. Reach out and let's talk about where your credentials could take you.

What does a safety pro actually do all day?

✔ Job Safety Analyses before the crew steps on site
✔ Incident investigations
✔ Toolbox talks that actually stick
✔ Audits, permits, and compliance documentation
✔ Earning enough trust from the crew that when you say stop, they stop

Not one bit of that is about size or gender. It's about training and attention to detail — and there are women out there doing this exceptionally well who deserve a real shot at it. If that's you, message me.

Let's talk about what a safety professional actually does, because I don't think it matches the picture some hiring managers have in their head.

It's writing and walking Job Safety Analyses before a crew steps on site. It's incident investigations where the details matter more than the drama. It's toolbox talks that actually change behavior instead of checking a box. It's audits, permits, documentation, and knowing OSHA regulations well enough to catch a problem before it becomes an incident report. It's earning the trust of a crew that's been doing this work for 20 years, so that when you say stop, they stop.

None of that is about size, or strength, or what someone "looks like" walking through a gate. It's about training, attention to detail, and credibility — and I know plenty of women who have all three in spades.

If that's you, I want to know about it.

If you've got real field experience in safety — HSE, CSP, CHST, OSHA 500/501 — and you've ever felt passed over because you didn't "look the part," I want to talk to you.

I'm building a list of women in safety for roles across Oil & Gas, Construction, and Light Industrial staffing right now. Your experience counts. Comment or send me a message — let's talk.

If you've spent years on a jobsite — coveralls, steel toes, doing hazard assessments in 100-degree heat right alongside the crew — and you've still had a hiring manager look past you because you didn't "look the part" of a safety professional, this post is for you.

I'm Amy Chance, Business Developer with Excel Staffing, and part of my job is building a pipeline of real safety talent for the plants, refineries, and construction sites across the Gulf Coast. And I keep hearing the same story from women in this field: the certifications, field hours, and track record are there — and they still get passed over.

A hazard doesn't care who identifies it. Field experience is field experience.

If you're a woman with real safety experience — HSE, CSP, CHST, OSHA 500/501, turnaround or shutdown safety, construction site safety — and you've felt like you weren't given a fair shot, I want to hear from you. I'm building a roster of women in safety right now for roles across Oil & Gas, Construction, and Light Industrial. Comment below, send me a message, or share your resume — I'd love to put your name in front of people who are actually looking for what you bring.
