The unknown hero of the Entebbe hostage rescue, Lt. Doron Almog. Almog was the first to land on the tarmac at Entebbe and the last to leave when the hostages were brought home. But he is a hero in another sense. Almog is the father of Eran, who has autism and severe handicaps.

In 2003, Almog founded Aleh Negev, a village in southern Israel that provides residential care for children with complex disabilities. He has dedicated his life to helping the vulnerabilities

Israel is beaming with pride over the organization House of Wheels - בית הגלגלים who was granted special advisor status to the UN's Economic and Social council.

Israel's President Reuven Ruvi Rivlin - ראובן רובי ריבלין posted, "Dear House of Wheels leaders and volunteers, you are a great light for children and for adults alike. The international recognition of your activities with the "Special Advisor to the UN" for the integration of young people with disabilities into society is a source of pride and inspiration for all of us. Thank you for your dedicated and exciting work."

Israeli NGO House of Wheels - בית הגלגלים was appointed this week to the status of "Special Advisor" to the Economic and Social Economic Council of the UN. The status gives the organization the right to participate in the official discussions of the UN institutions and advise on the subject of integration in society for youth with disabilities.
