CUNYfirst stands for Fully Integrated Resources and Services Tool and for CUNY it means a massive upgrade in how we'll do things in the future. New CUNYfirst processes in Student Administration, Human Resources and Finance will change how we do everything from registering for classes to paying our bills. CUNYfirst applications will replace aging legacy systems like SIMS, e-SIMS and CUPS and help u
s streamline and standardize many of the things we do at Hostos. Students will be able to sign up for courses just like they would go online with Amazon – put the classes they think they want in a shopping cart, then click once to confirm. CUNYfirst will register students, give them a bill for classes and fees, apply for financial aid and allow them to interact with their professors and advisers. For faculty, it will be a communication link to students, allow them to view their class rosters and post grades. For our staff, it will provide a wealth of information about the classes we offer and information on the students who take them. Everyone who uses the system will get trained to use it. Some will learn in a classroom setting, some will learn at a seminar and some will learn by going online
