From a former and returning candidate...
When you want the best, you go to the best. I've been with JaNiece for about 30 days, and I am up for two of the best positions in the industry, hands down. You won't see bells and whistles or flashy job postings everywhere. She doesn't need them. She's selective because she can be. Big clients find her, and she hands selects the candidates. She takes her time and really gets to know you, your background, and your goals. I've never felt represented so well. As a matter of fact, it's the weekend right now, and I had a question that could have waited til Monday. However, she immediately got back to me with an answer. And best of all? She cares. Cares about the client. Cares about the candidate. And cares about the relationship between the two. Thank you, JaNiece!

The Best Nannies Don't Lose Themselves—And the Best Families Don't Ask Them To.

Recently, I came across an anonymous post from a nanny that stopped me in my tracks.

She wrote about something I experienced myself years ago.

Before I became a recruiter in the private service industry, I worked as a nanny in the New York City Metro area while putting myself through college. I understand the deep bonds that form with the children you care for and the immense sense of responsibility that comes with being entrusted with someone's family.

The nanny who shared her story talked about loving her nanny charges so much that she slowly stopped taking care of herself.

She postponed doctor's appointments because there was no backup coverage.

She felt guilty whenever she needed time for her own life.

She convinced herself that everyone else's needs came before her own.

Sadly, this isn't uncommon.

One of the things that makes exceptional nannies extraordinary is their willingness to give so much of themselves. They become emotionally invested. They celebrate milestones, comfort children through difficult days, and often become one of the most consistent people in a child's life.

But dedication should never require self-sacrifice.

After years of recruiting household staff for private families, I've learned something important: the healthiest long-term placements are built on mutual respect.

The best employers understand that professional caregivers are human beings first.

They encourage preventive healthcare.

They plan for backup coverage when possible.

They respect personal time.

They recognize that a nanny who feels valued—not guilty—is more engaged, more loyal, and better able to provide exceptional care.

Likewise, I encourage every nanny I work with to remember that setting healthy boundaries is not a sign of being less committed.

It is a sign of professionalism.

You can love the children you care for deeply while still protecting your own physical and emotional well-being.

The two are not mutually exclusive.

Private service has evolved tremendously over the years, and I believe one of the biggest changes has been recognizing that the employer-employee relationship works best when both sides feel respected.

To every nanny reading this:

Your doctor's appointment matters.

Your family matters.

Your mental health matters.

Your life outside of work matters.

And to every family reading this:

The caregivers who dedicate themselves to your children deserve the same compassion and flexibility you would want from any outstanding employer. Investing in your nanny's well-being isn't just the right thing to do—it's one of the best investments you can make in the stability and happiness of your household.

The strongest nanny-family relationships aren't built on sacrifice.

They're built on trust, respect, healthy boundaries, and appreciation.

That's how careers last.

And that's how children thrive.
