Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Cook/Housekeeper for an empty-nest couple on the Upper West Side of New York. This role offers an exciting opportunity to blend a love of cooking with exceptional housekeeping skills to create a warm and welcoming home environment. You will be responsible for preparing delicious meals (mainly dinner) and the upkeep of a reasonably sized apartment. Laundry and ironing for two adults is also required. Your enthusiasm for food preparation and attention to detail are key to this permanent role, which could last for many years. The clients lead a simple, relaxed life with occasional guests and visits from grandchildren here and there.

Duties

Prepare and cook nutritious, appealing meals from recipes the couple enjoys.
Assist with menu planning by suggesting seasonal or special dish ideas
Perform thorough housekeeping duties, including cleaning common areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, and the kitchen. Occasionally, you may be asked to run errands. You will also shop for food and household supplies.
Manage laundry tasks such as washing, folding, ironing, and organizing linens and clothing as needed

Experience

Previous experience in a similar role, along with references who will speak to your outstanding character and skills
We require a seasoned professional with strong time management, initiative, and a positive, professional disposition who is flexible based on the employer's needs.

You must be legally able to work in the USA, local to the New York Metro area, speak English, and have great references from a similar position. Being fairly computer savvy helps with ordering online and other tasks.

Pay is fairly flexible with a target range from $45-$55/hr

Typical workweek is M-F with some flexibility to pitch in on occasional weekends if the couple is entertaining.

The ideal candidate will take pride in preparing high-quality daily meals for a couple (empty nesters) and possess the skills to cook for small dinner parties. Responsibilities also include daily housekeeping for the home.

While not required, there may be opportunities to travel with the family to their country home for a week or two during the summer. Applicants should be flexible enough to occasionally work a weekend day or evening when the clients are hosting guests.

Duties

Tidy, organize, and declutter living spaces after the kids are off to school and parents are off to the office to maximize functionality and aesthetic appeal of the home
Handle daily household tidying (not heavy cleaning), folding laundry, unloading the dishwasher, and errands occasionally as needed.
Coordinating with service providers when needed
Receiving packages and sorting mail
Watering plants
Loading/unloading the dishwasher
Making beds and fluffing pillows (provide nice touches to welcome the families home)
All in all, this is a general household reset to prepare for the afternoon/evening (so the families can come home after a busy day to a welcoming home with chaos handled by you!)
