VISION

Li Tang Community is a New York-based artist-run nonprofit organization dedicated to amplifying the creative voices of the Asian diaspora. Founded in April 2020, Li Tang Community aims to feature the works and talents of today’s most innovative Asian practitioners working in the varied fields of art, design, and contemporary culture. Li Tang Community was launched so that these creativ

es may discover a place where the essential undertaking of engagement, both with their audiences and with one another, is facilitated with passion and expertise. Gaining success and momentum as a creative practitioner is a path continually beset with obstacles. Li Tang counters these roadblocks with a space that encourages the sharing of stories, offering original models on the presentation of the creative self, and the fundamental opportunity to learn from one another’s unique practices.

MISSION

We send invitations to emerging and established Asian creatives and we encourage recommendations from the communities. By valuing recommendations, we are able to share lights with those who may not be considered as the most commercially successful (yet). We believe if people get to know each other at a deeper level, our community will be closer and more supportive. As Li Tang grows it will serve as a crucial archive of the remarkably diverse works of Asian artists and cultural producers forging inventive roads all over the world. Additionally, it will continue to explore the ways in which it may serve its community with love, opportunity, and vitality as the community grows alongside it.

TEAM

We are a team of professional artists, designers, and curators who work together to present the journeys of the creatives we interviewed. We want to explore the stories behind their inspirational practice and how they play leading roles in their careers.

I was seeking for holes in the city. Holes create a space where we are set free from the spectacle, they serve as a place for rest and wandering. Therefore, ironically, they are a space that you have to actively seek out, not a given space. - Youngmin Park

It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just enjoy it. It doesn’t have to be a whole series, a full-on production animation, a comic book, or a large-scale painting. It can be as simple as doodling or sketching. - Yubin Lee

Hannah Bang is an interdisciplinary artist based in New York. Her work spans performance, video, painting, and installation, often exploring themes of presence, endurance, and the blurred line between documentation and experience. Rooted in repetition and slow gesture, her practice acts as both record and ritual—engaging the body as a site of quiet insistence.

I believe in the quiet force of what remains after the action is over. - Hannah Bang

𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 marks the fifth anniversary of Li Tang Community, bringing together 31 Asian diaspora artists and art groups from Los Angeles to New York. This exhibition celebrates a vibrant spectrum of practices, each work a gesture of imagination, connection, and resilience.

Founded in April 2020, Li Tang Community is a New York-based, artist-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of the global Asian diaspora. Created as a safe space, Li Tang functions as both an assembly hall for open dialogue and a quiet shelter for those seeking support. It is a place to gather because we care—for art, for each other, and for the stories we carry.

As we mark this milestone, the exhibition affirms our belief in mutual support, collective growth, and the courage to embrace our individual paths as we journey onward.
