I’m constantly getting proposals to use AI for initial interviews.

Faster screening.
More efficiency.
Less time per candidate.

From a business standpoint, it makes sense.

But I’ve always leaned toward keeping the first interaction human, because that first interview or call or conversation is where candidates decide if they trust you.

However, I’ve been seeing a different perspective lately.

Some argue human interviews aren’t always the “gold standard”, it's not as reliable as we think. Humans have different moods, different preferences, and different levels of attention. Sometimes outcomes depend more on “vibe” than actual capability.

While from that angle, AI in early stages can feel like a step forward:
Same questions for everyone
Same evaluation criteria
Less influence from bias or personality fit

And honestly, more candidates are now having AI as their first touchpoint anyway.

So maybe I should consider it?
Do you think it will actually add value?
